Castle Acre Primary School

The Coronation

King Charles III Coronation.

Wow! What a moment in history! After 74 years, Prince Charles has finally been crowned king. Most of the country thought this was a major celebration and Castle Acre Academy was no different.

On Friday 5th May everyone came to school wearing, not the usual purple uniform (which is itself a regal colour), but red, white and blue. Activities were planned throughout the morning to decorate the school and ourselves.

All the children were divided into three groups with a mix of year groups. Some started painting some wonderful portraits of King Charles which can now be seen in the portrait gallery in the school hall.  Others made Union Jacks and bunting to decorate walls and ceilings and other available spaces. The third group got going on 'stained-glass windows' drawing inspiration from the windows of Westminster Abbey, so now the hall windows are glowing.

Other activities included making crowns (what a lot of royal looking children we had in school!) and researching facts about King Charles which were displayed on a striking backdrop in the hall.

Families were invited into school for refreshments and celebrations for this historic event.
