Castle Acre Primary School

Sports Premium

Castle Acre

Sports Premium is the name for fund that the Government gives to primary schools to ensure that every child has access to, and develops their enjoyment of sport and physical activity.

Sport is a vital part of our curriculum. Aside from the obvious health benefits, it helps our children learn the qualities of discipline, resilience, communication, team work and ambition.  It is also proven that it helps improve concentration, attitude and academic achievement.

We are committed to ensuring that this vital resource is used to the best possible means and below you will see a breakdown of our Sports Premium income and what we have so far used it for.

You can also read our Sports Premium plan for this current academic year 23-24.

PE and sport premium for primary schools

If your school receives PE and sport premium funding, you must publish:

  • the amount of premium received
  • a full breakdown of how it has been spent (or will be spent)
  • what impact the school has seen on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment
  • how the improvements will be sustainable in the future

You are also required to publish the percentage of pupils within your year 6 cohort who met the national curriculum requirement to:

  • swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • use a range of strokes effectively (for example front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke)
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
